A successful model on the runway – 100th AS 900 / 990 airport sweeper dispatched

Our airport team in St. Blasien is pleased to have dispatched the 100th AS 900 / 900 airport sweeper. The AS 900 / 990 as a further development of AS 750 impresses beside a lot of improvements by it’s hopper capacity of 9 m³.

The jubilee edition left St. Blasien’s manufacturing facility in March. The high-powered 9 m³ airport sweeper was developed for use all year round and meets both military and civil standards. The jubilee edition was dispatched equipped with both summer and winter maintenance equipment.

The AS 990 is designed to clear large areas fast and is extremely versatile. A sweeping width of up to 3, 5 m is achieved with two circular brushes. With its blower unit, the sweeper is able to clear away leaves, dust and light snow from large areas. The stainless steel hopper makes it possible to collect rubber waste, surface water and normal dirt, as well as, de-icing liquids.

The high-performance suction fan with an air volume of ca. 32 000 cubicmetres per hour, ensures that dirt on the runways, taxiways and aprons doesn’t stand a chance. The suction nozzle has a constant width of 2,3 m and is part of the sweeping unit which is located directly behind the rear axle. With a maximum sweeping speed of 40 km/h, the AS 990 is able to clear an area of around 140 000 m² per hour.

Additionally, the AS 990 airport sweeper comes also equipped with a special airport snow plough, a 100 bar high pressure washing unit with a water circulation of 30 litre/minute, an innovative filter system, a rearview camera, as well as, a PMB 2400 permanent magnet beam.
