Vehicles from the Highway Agency Project

The Highway Agency is responsible for managing, maintaining and improving the strategic road network in England. The network includes various types of road ranging from motorways carrying up to 200,000 vehicles per day to single carriageway trunk roads (the major A roads) carrying fewer than 10,000 vehicles per day. At present, the Highways Agency owns approx. 303 spreaders plus 30 snow blowers, but when those owned by its area agents are included, it operates a fleet of around 500 winter service vehicles.

Schmidt UK was one of the two companies selected by the Highways Agency for a four-year, winter service vehicles framework contract. This order was made up of the following:

  36 x 6.15 m³ spreaders

  78 x 9.25 m³ spreaders

143 x SNK 30/34 snowploughs

The excellent news is that Schmidt UK has now received a further order for 2009.

The processing of this order is an excellent example of how different divisions within the ASH group can and do work well together.  Schmidt UK, Nido, Schmidt Polska and SWK have all worked tirelessly to bring this order to the customer, on time and to the highest possible quality.  It is a testimony to our organisation that we have this unique ability and ensures our continued high profile and unrivalled reputation within the Winter Maintenance market worldwide.
